Research stays

From 10th January – 29th February 2020 I was visiting scholar at the University of Nairobi, Department of Literature, for library research and further exploring Nairobi’s literary scene. While there, I taught an MA seminar organised by the Literature Students Association.

Also, I presented my work at Kenyatta University in the Staff and Postgraduate Students Seminar at the Department of Literature, Linguistics and Foreign Languages, organised by Dr. J.K.S. Makokha and Dr. Esther Mbithi.

The Literature Department at Moi University in Eldoret hosted me for a presentation in their Departmental Seminar Series, at the friendly invitation of Univ. Prof. Michael T. Mboya.

Asante sana to the staff and students at University of Nairobi, Kenyatta University and Moi University for their invaluable support and feedback.

From 15th November – 15th December 2018, I was visiting scholar at the British Institute in Eastern Africa (BIEA) in Nairobi for library research and field research.

Dr. Elizabeth Mairura, Head of Information and Library Department at the Goethe Institut and Khainga O’Okwemba, acclaimed literary critic, poet and host of the radio show The Books Café, generously shared their vast expertise and networks. Asante sana!

From 1st – 30th September 2017, the Department of New Anglophone Literatures and Cultures (NELK) at the Goethe University Frankfurt hosted me as a research fellow with the friendly support of Univ. Prof. Dr. Frank Schulze-Engler. I was able to make use of the University Library’s extensive collection on East African literature and to present my work in the research colloquium.
